Orange Tree Records is a new UK based record label aimed at supporting new and original soul and hip hop music. Nutty NRG are London MCs Skyy-I and Gizla. Having paid their dues battling MCs across London and beyond, and with three street mixtapes to their name ‘The Nutty NRG EP’ represents their long awaited first ‘official’ release. Known for their honest lyrics, quirky style and catchy choruses the Nutty NRG boys are well respected in the UK underground hip hop scene having opened for a succession of high profile acts, including Ghostface Killah, T-Pain and R’n’B singer Joe.
The forthcoming EP features the future funk tracks ‘Fabulous’ and ‘Sex Appeal’, and the alternative club banger ‘Speed Dial’. The duo stick to their hip hop roots on ‘Paper Chase’, and show that they don’t take themselves too seriously on the sexy sax infused ‘Saxophone’. The EP provides a perfect introduction to the Nutty NRG sound: funky, fresh and a little bit, well, NUTTY!

Home of the UK’s Underground Soul
Orange Tree Records has now released its debut EP ‘Fresh Fruit, Vol. 1’. The EP is the first in a
series of compilations showcasing some of the most talented underground soul and hip hop acts
from the UK.
Among the highlights is the track ‘New Day’ by Chima Anya (featuring MOBO award-winner
Soweto Kinch). On ‘New Day’, Chima, (a doctor by day and MC by night!), delivers a truly original
vision of futuristic hip hop, which has gained support from trend setting DJs, including Giles
Peterson who featured it on his famous Radio 1 show ‘Worldwide’.
Also featuring on the EP is ‘Same Old Same Old’ written and performed by the unique
contemporary soul singer Louise Golbey and produced by Mercury Music Prize nominated
producer Drew Horley (Ty, Estelle, De La Soul). An original UK twist on the neo soul sound, ‘Same
Old Same Old’ has been championed by BBC 1 Xtra DJ Ras Kwame on the ‘Homegrown’ feature
of his radio show.
The EP takes in a range of styles, from the blistering swagger of Chima Anya’s opener to the
funked up feel good vibes of London hip hop acts Nutty NRG and Kinetik to the classic jazz-soul
of singer/songwriter Simon Middleton.
Representing the cream of the UK’s soul and hip hop underground the EP is a must for anyone
who is looking for something different, original and cutting edge.
